Spirit of the Horse
for Horse Lovers

Are you drawn to horses? Deepen your connection to horses in a creative way!
Many of us passionately drew horses as a child, but as an adult feel like we’re not “good enough” to make art. In this workshop we’ll change the script and introduce creative practices that help bring back that child-like joy in making art. All the while we’ll explore how mindfulness and art can bring us closer to the gifts horses have to bring.
No art experience and no horse experience required!
“The facilitator was great about keeping the activities inclusive for a very wide range of familiarity with horses and also people’s artistic confidence, so I never felt out of place…It was easy to just enjoy the workshop without any stress or outside expectations. I absolutely recommend Jeanne’s events!” – Workshop Participant

Frequently Asked Questions
- What if I am NOT an artist? Creative expression is for everyone! In this workshop we focus on the process, not the outcome. We will support all participants (whether you identify as an artist or as someone with no artistic “skill”) to let go of self-judgment, stay present and curious, and enjoy yourself!
- What if I am not a “horse person”? That’s totally fine! Even if you have never touched a horse before, if you are open to being moved by the spirit of the horse and to trying out some mindful art practices, you are welcome and encouraged to join. The workshop is richer for everyone when our group includes a range of experiences and interests.
- What if I AM an artist? If you identify as an artist (whether as a profession or a passion), this workshop is a good opportunity to try something new, whether that is focusing on the horse as a subject, or approaching the horse in a different way. The practices we will use are also excellent tools for times when you’re feeling “stuck” or overly self-critical.
- What if I miss some or all of it – will I be sent a recording? No. This is a live experience only. To create a space that’s supportive of creative expression and stretching our comfort zones, we will not be recording the session. You can cancel your participation and get a refund up to one day before the event. Cancel earlier to allow in waitlisted folks.
- What should I expect from the workshop? You’ll be guided through a bunch of short art practices. We’ll ground & reflect together along the way. Everything is by invitation, so you can share (or be on camera) only when you are comfortable, and choose to do activities differently if you like! For online workshops, horses are present through photos and pre-recorded video. For in-person workshops, live horses join us (across a fence).
- How do I connect to the (online) workshop? It’s recommended to join from a computer (or from the largest screen device you have available) so the images will be easy to see. Be sure to install Zoom before the event. To join, click the Zoom link sent when you registered. Being on camera and microphone is encouraged, but not required.
- How long is the workshop? The workshop is 2 hours long, with a short break about half-way through. Past participants have observed that that time flies by!
- Will there be a break? Yes! Since this is a 2 hour workshop, we will have a five minute break about halfway through. If you need to step away at any time during the workshop, that’s fine, too, just remember it won’t be recorded.
- Can you do this workshop for my group online or at my barn? Yes to both! Find more details on the partnerships page.

Past workshop participants said…
“It’s a sweet space to let go of judgement and take in what it feels like to bask in details and movements of these incredible beings. If you can give yourself the gift of this session, do it”
“Being guided into this type of art and expression is something I’ve needed the push for, and it’s such a gift to have the space and time made to do so. Thank you Jeanne, this was absolutely wonderful!”
“Jeanne created a warm and inviting space to let our creative juices flow while giving us insightful prompts. It was really great to be invited to find our own flow and pace while challenging ourselves. It was a great balance. As a horsewoman I loved connecting to the horse’s essence and was surprised how I was able to do that in an online format.”
“I’ve never taken an art workshop before and I’m terrible at drawing so I was a bit hesitant coming up, but Jeanne guided us through a really fun and creative experience… I’m inspired to start drawing my horses in real life and see where the experience takes me! :)”
“I really enjoyed learning and using new drawing/sketching techniques in a very friendly, no-pressure environment. Horses are my first love, and this was a special opportunity to explore the essence of their ‘horseness’ and how it translates into art. Thank you!”
