Commissions

Commissions are open!

Over the past 20+ years, I have created many custom art pieces for people like you, including drawings, paintings, and illustrations across various media and styles.  It’s a joy to get to know the special animals in your lives and help create special gifts or keepsakes.  It’s a particular honor to be asked to help remember an animal who has passed away.  Art has been an important part of my own grieving and healing process, so I do not take this lightly.  I approach each art project with empathy, curiosity, and a commitment to do the best I can for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What size will my portrait be?  I tend to work small, which keeps my portraits more affordable and easier to ship.  Most of my portraits are 8×10 inches or 5×7 inches.  I also love to do mini portraits (like 4×4 inches) and depending on the style, may do a larger size for you.
  • How much does a commissioned portrait cost?  It depends!  The price is based on the hours I estimate it will take and the cost of materials.  These varies based on the size, style, and complexity of your portrait.  If it is a subject that I am less familiar with (a.k.a. not a horse) that can also make it more expensive (because it will take me longer).  Once we talk through what you have in mind, I can give you a price quote.   Expect that generally it will be at least $100 USD plus shipping.
  • How long will it take to get my portrait?  This depends on my current availability.  When you reach out, I will give you a time estimate.  Anticipate that it may take some time for us to sort out all the details of what you want, reference photos, etc.  Once I have everything I need from you, expect it will be at least a week for me to complete the portrait and get your approval and payment before shipping.  Sometimes it may take several weeks.
  • What is the process for having you make a piece of art for me?  1) You reach out to me to share about what you’re looking for.   2) I ask questions about the basics of what you’re looking for and your timeline.  3) If I think I can meet your needs, I send you some additional questions to figure out the details.  I will also ask for reference photos.  4) Once I have the full details on the scope of the artwork, I will give you a price and more specific time estimate, and ask for a signed agreement.  This includes details on whether I am able to post your portrait publicly or create prints from it.  5) Once we’re in agreement on the details, I get started!  (If it is a large/expensive commission, I may ask for a partial payment deposit before I start work.)  6) I send you a low-res image of what I created, for your approval.  7) If you approve, I will send you an invoice for payment including the shipping cost via a secure, online platform.  8) You send payment. 9) I pack your art securely and send it your way!
  • Will you draw my [bird/cat/dog/fish/other non-horse animal]?  Maybe!  Reach out to me and let’s see if your project is a fit.  I won’t take it on if I don’t think I can do your animal justice.  If it’s not a fit for me, I may be able to suggest another artist.
  • Will you draw my [sister/lover/friend/kid]?  Probably not, unless they are hanging out with a horse.  People are not my strong suit.  Feel free to ask, and if I can’t help you, I may be able to suggest another artist.
  • How have you incorporated art-making into your own grief work?  Learn more at my Dreamscaping project and in my intro video – why I make art.
  • I want to commission you to make some art for me!  What do I do?  Reach out by emailing me at jeanne.rewa @ gmail.com or direct messaging me on Instagram.  Tell me a little bit about what you’re looking for, and we’ll take it from there!
